Responsibilities Work in the ICU with a focus on neurosurgical, post-stroke, respiratory failure, renal failure, post-surgical, trauma, sepsis, MODS, heart failure, and post-cardiac cath patients Patient ratios range from 1 : 2 to 1 : 3 Use of advanced equipment including EVD, ventilators, IV drip titration, telemetry, and performing conscious sedation Required to float to Stepdown Unit and may also care for ICU patients held in ED or MedSurg Shift options are 3x12 or 4x12 day shifts, including weekdays, every other weekend, and holiday coverage during the contract Epic EMR proficiency required Care for a variety of high-acuity patients, with an emphasis on complex neuro and critical care cases Travelers must be comfortable floating to higher and lower acuity areas as needed Three hours of online modules required and must be completed prior to start Holiday coverage included as part of contract requirements Scrubs required according to facility policy Fit testing is required and any history of previous failures will disqualify candidacy RTO requests will be reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis Two recent references are required upon consideration Requirements Active VA or compact RN license in hand at the time of consideration BLS, ACLS (AHA only), and NIHSS certifications required Strong neuro ICU experience (post-neurosurgical, EVD, and stroke) is mandatory Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia skills required Minimum of 3 years critical care experience preferred, but strong candidates with less will be considered Epic charting experience required Must successfully complete EKG testing (80% pass rate required, no remediation) No prior license or background hits accepted Applicants must reside more than 50 miles from the facility and must provide a driver’s license for address verification Must have no history of fit test issues, and the facility cannot accommodate PAPR Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-627562.
