  • Job Description

    We are excited to be on the hunt for a talented and motivated individual to join our team as a Managing News Editor - Gambling.

    In this role, you will be responsible for delivering timely, insightful, and engaging journalism, overseeing the daily output of writers, and helping to build our portfolio into the go-to source for gambling news, industry insights, features, and analysis.

    Responsibilities

    • Commission, publish and / or edit a steady stream of gambling contexts — including news, features, interviews, event coverage, and analysis — to the highest editorial standards.
    • Pitch and produce second-day coverage that adds depth, context, or exclusive insights to day-one stories.
    • Curate a body of work that enhances ownership of industry subject matter or specialized expertise e.g. data journalism, interviews, technology, etc.
    • Collaborate with reporters, analysts, and subject-matter experts to create a cohesive product within the parameters given.
    • Develop and execute editorial news strategies alongside the Newsroom Manager.
    • Manage the daily publishing schedule and ensure all deadlines are met.
    • Edit and fact-check articles for accuracy, clarity, and house style.
    • Develop and maintain a strong network of PR contacts, industry professionals, and community sources to support story development & data acquisition.
    • Provide mentorship and constructive feedback to writers, supporting their professional development.
    • Assist in forward planning around major gambling industry news cycles, including quarterly reporting, legislative cycles & sports markets etc.
    • Act as the lead editor for a product or products, taking responsibility for performance and content quality.
    • Participate in cross-team collaborations to produce multimedia, business, or data-driven stories.
    • Uphold and model best practices in ethical journalism and online conduct
    • Qualifications

    • Proven experience as an editor, section editor, or journalist in gambling or a closely related field.
    • Ability to motivate a fully remote team, and lead by example.
    • Strong track record of writing and editing compelling, accurate, and timely content.
    • Deep understanding of the iGaming & betting landscape, including major brands, people, events, organisations, and industry trends.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and writers in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
    • Excellent editorial judgement and attention to detail.
    • Confident communicator with the ability to build key relationships with industry stakeholders.
    • Comfortable working with various CMS and SEO tools to align with brand strategy.
    • Strong grasp of journalistic ethics, fact-checking processes, and source development.
    • Ability to mentor junior writers.
