Child Nutrition Program Coordinator
Program Development :
Design, implement, and evaluate comprehensive child nutrition programs that align with national guidelines and standards. Collaborate with school administrators, nutrition staff, and other stakeholders to develop and update program goals and objectives.
Compliance :
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing child nutrition programs. Stay informed about changes in nutrition policies and guidelines, adjusting programs accordingly.
Menu Planning :
Develop nutritionally balanced and appealing menus that meet the dietary needs of diverse student populations. Consider special dietary requirements and allergies when planning menus.
Budget Management :
Develop and manage the budget for the child nutrition program, including procurement, staff salaries, and equipment. Seek cost-effective solutions without compromising nutritional quality.
Staff Supervision and Training :
Recruit, train, and supervise nutrition program staff, including cooks, kitchen assistants, and nutrition educators. Provide ongoing professional development to ensure staff is informed about nutrition trends and best practices.
Community Engagement :
Foster positive relationships with parents, community members, and local organizations to promote awareness and support for the child nutrition program. Collaborate with community partners to enhance nutrition education initiatives.
Nutrition Education :
Implement nutrition education programs for students, teachers, and parents to promote healthy eating habits. Collaborate with school curriculum coordinators to integrate nutrition education into the academic curriculum.
Data Analysis and Reporting :
Collect, analyze, and report data related to program effectiveness, participation rates, and nutritional outcomes. Use data to make informed decisions and recommendations for program improvement.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics, or a related field; master's degree preferred. Registered Dietitian (RD) or similar professional certification. Experience in program management, preferably in child nutrition or school food service. Knowledge of federal nutrition programs, regulations, and guidelines. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Familiarity with menu planning, dietary guidelines, and nutrition education strategies. Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
