JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for following established procedures and protocols. A technologist performs diagnostic radiographic procedures to assist in the diagnosis of diseases and injuries. The scope of the position includes using proper patient identification and ensuring you have the correct patient for the exam, explaining the procedure to patients, accurately operating all imaging equipment, demonstrating clinical and age-specific competencies in performing all diagnostic procedures, and selecting accurate technical factors for optimal image quality. A technologist is responsible for practicing radiation safety in the operations of radiation-emitting equipment. The technologist demonstrates the ability to review images for interpretation. General supervision is available for a variety of duties, most of which follow well-defined methods and procedures. An employee may operate alone on routine work, checking with supervision for answers when in doubt.
Position includes maintaining competency in performing all diagnostic x-ray procedures in the department and in the operating room, as well as assisting in other areas / modalities of the department as requested. If you are certified / trained in multimodality, it is expected that you assist in those areas when needed and stay current with knowledge and competencies for on-call duties.
QUALIFICATIONS
- ARRT Certification Required – Multimodality Preferred.
- Wyoming State License Required
- BLS Certification Required
- 2–3-year experience preferred
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Reviews and interprets the physician's order for the diagnostic x-ray procedure accurately and requests a corrected order from the physician's office if the order is not correct.Validates all patient identification before performing any diagnostic X-ray procedure accurately.Communicates with patient to obtain medical history and / or specific medical information that is pertinent to the procedure and / or patient’s well-being during the procedure.Validates proper working conditions and technical factors of all imaging equipment and procedure rooms.Reviews paperwork with the patient prior to exam & explains procedure to the patient to facilitate patient cooperation and alleviate patient anxiety; ensures patient safety.Assumes responsibility for patient care during the imaging procedure to include infection control and proper PPE.Follows procedure protocols and policies and procedures in performing diagnostic x-ray procedures within the radiology department, pain department, and operating room.Demonstrates competence in collimation, patient positioning, and radiation safety to reduce radiation exposure as much as possible.Practices radiation safety for patients, family, visitors, and self.Critiques all images for image quality for interpretation.Actively participates in the Quality Assurance program(s).Consistently demonstrates the ability to recognize priorities and handle them promptly.Establishes and maintains a good rapport and cooperative working relationship with all members of the department, facility, and outside facilities working with our department.Demonstrates a willingness to learn new procedures and modalities - assists in other areas as needed.Participates in on-call as needed to support the department / facility.Cross-utilization into other modalities where trainedBehave and dress professionally and courteously, consistent with the facilities' Standards of Behavior & handbook
