About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse - Long Term Care

Profession : Registered Nurse

Shift : 12 Hour Variable

Hours per Shift : 36 guaranteed hours

Experience : Minimum experience required; applicants with less than 1.5 years will need manager approval.

License : Must possess a valid RN or LPN license through the state Board of Nursing.

Certifications :

RN : BLS

LPN : BLS

CNA : CNA certified

Medication Aide : BLS; Med Aide certified through the state Board of Nursing (certification required).

Must-Have :

• Long-term care experience preferred.
• Ability to collaborate with hospice RNs as needed.
• Team player with a positive attitude.
• Must comply with COVID testing requirements.

Description :

This position involves caring for long-term care or rehabilitation / skilled nursing facility patients.

Common diagnoses include stable health conditions, dementia, and typical nursing home patients.

The patient care environment will include long-term residents and comfort care patients.

There are no tracheostomy or ventilator patients, but there may be occasional feeding tubes, IVs, and catheter care.

The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 25-30, with two nurses per shift.

An RN must be present in the building for eight hours daily.

Medication aides will assist in passing medications at the same ratio.

CNA support is available with a ratio of 1 : 10.

Candidates should have skills in tube feeds, ostomy care, dressing / wound care, phlebotomy, and IV starts.

Nurses are expected to act as Charge RNs as needed.

CNA responsibilities include answering call lights and assisting with activities of daily living.

Flexibility in scheduling is required as shifts may vary between days and nights.

Weekend rotation is expected with a minimum of every other weekend.

Two of the four major holidays will require working.

Time off may be taken without approval up to seven days.

No artificial nails are permitted.

In inclement weather, staff may be required to stay at the facility.
