Summary

Assists in managing and maintaining customer relationships. Responds to customer service requests and requirements as well as assists acquiring new business opportunities. Performs mechanical duties, testing and inspections as required on equipment in the SMS Valparaiso workshop and / or at a vendor facility. More time may be be spent in the SMS Valparaiso workshop initially, as the equipment learning process takes place. Time spent in the field, as well as customer responsibilities, will increase as experience is gained.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Visit customers regularly for sales and service calls, ensuring that customers in designated sales areas are visited with a view to selling them SMS products and services
• Identify customer needs and resources
• Assist and solve customer’s problems / issues and liaison with SMS group divisions including plant personnel and management
• Assists in initial customer contact, and receiving and expediting RFQ’s for proposal
• Assist in customer follow up, including follow up of : quoting, order placement, job completion and delivery
• Perform mechanical duties; Disassemble, assemble and test equipment in the SMS Valparaiso workshop and / or vendor facilities
• Perform fabrication of lightweight apparatus and / or structures used in the maintenance of equipment
• Interface with project management, engineers, technical personnel and other staff as needed to complete projects
• Provide any additional support where needed
• Perform housekeeping and maintenance activities as required
