Job Title : SAP S / 4HANA Technical Architect (SAP ECC to S / 4HANA Brownfield Migration) Location : Columbia, SC (50% Onsite - Tuesday to Thursday, every other week) Job Type : Contract (12 Months, possibility of extension) Experience : Senior Level About the Project : The South Carolina Department of Administration is seeking a highly skilled and experienced SAP Architect to lead a critical SAP Brownfield Migration project. This is an exciting opportunity to drive the technical design and architecture for transitioning from SAP ECC to SAP S / 4HANA with RISE, impacting enterprise-level applications across the state. Position Overview : We are looking for a seasoned SAP S / 4HANA Technical Architect to play a pivotal role in the design, implementation, and optimization of complex SAP technical solutions and landscapes. You will be instrumental in a large-scale SAP ECC to S / 4HANA migration, leveraging your deep expertise in SAP S / 4HANA with RISE architecture, environment management, custom code remediation, data archiving, security, system integrations, and cloud technologies. Key Responsibilities : Lead the technical design and architecture of SAP S / 4HANA solutions for brownfield migration. Oversee the migration of SAP ECC components to S / 4HANA with RISE using tools like SUM DMO and Conversion Cockpit. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (functional, BW / Reporting, BASIS, infrastructure, security, development) to define scalable, secure, and high-performance system architectures. Guide the remediation of custom enhancements, Fiori apps, APIs, and interfaces (PI / PO, CPI, IDocs) during the migration. Define migration strategy, system sizing, and performance optimization activities. Ensure compliance with SAP best practices, security standards, and regulatory requirements. Participate in project planning, timeline estimation, risk identification, and Architecture Review Board governance. Review and approve implementation partner deliverables and engage in planning / reviews with SAP directly. Required Skills & Experience : 10+ years of overall experience with SAP technologies. 4+ years of dedicated experience in SAP S / 4HANA projects, with at least one full-cycle S / 4HANA implementation as a Technical Architect. Deep understanding of SAP NetWeaver, ABAP programming, SAP HANA DB architecture, and SAP Fiori / UI. Hands-on experience with S / 4HANA migration methodologies and tools. Proficiency in SAP integration technologies (e.g., PI / PO, CPI, RFC, BAPIs, REST, SOAP). Strong knowledge of SAP landscape architecture, sizing, high availability, and disaster recovery. Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills. Preferred Skills : Experience with SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP). Familiarity with Agile and DevOps methodologies. Direct experience with SAP RISE. Experience with smartShift for SAP code remediation. Knowledge of SAP BW, data warehousing, analytics, and reporting tools. Experience with Archiving via SAP ILM. Background in regulated environments (Federal or State Government). SAP S / 4HANA Technical Architecture certification. Familiarity with SAP bolt-on or third-party tools (e.g., BSI, Vertex, Adobe Document Services, Highland OnBase). Experience with Tricentis Test Automation. Education : Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
