Qualifications :
- Valid Washington State teaching certificate with library / media endorsement
- Ability to perform the full range of teaching duties and responsibilities
- Ability to provide in-service training to faculty and staff
- Must possess technology skills and leadership to include knowledge of computers and related equipment, software applications, and the effective use of technology
- Must possess administrative skills to include budget, purchasing, inventory, etc
- Must possess community relations skills and the ability to serve as an ambassador for the building and for education
- Must possess interpersonal skills to effectively work with students, parents, faculty, volunteers, and community representatives
- Must possess communications skills to include verbal, written (including penmanship), and visual
- Must be fully bilingual in Spanish and English in all communication modalities including reading, writing and speaking
- Must possess research skills and curriculum knowledge to assist teachers in the identification of materials to support curriculum, and to instruct and assist students in conducting research
- Advanced ability to use technology as an effective commuication, planning and instructional tool
- Willingness to participate in staff development courses aligned with the school and district initiatives
Essential Functions :
Applies a comprehensive knowledge of developments and trends in library media center management issues, media systems, and information resourcesAssumes responsibility for the organization, appearance, and visual appeal of the library media centerSchedules and manages the use of media facilities and equipmentMaintains patron and material databasesDevelops and maintains effective relations with patrons, volunteers and the communitySupervises and trains library media clerks, volunteers, and student assistantsSelects and oversees the ordering, receiving, processing, cataloging, shelving, storing, maintaining, repairing, circulating, inventorying, and withdrawal of library media resources, materials, and equipmentAssists staff and students in locating and using library resources, materials, and equipmentDevelops, reproduces, and distributes bibliographies, guides, “pathfinders,” and other instructional handouts and materials as appropriate and neededManages library media center budget and maintains accountability for fixed assetsFacilitates the ordering, distribution, and return of instructional materials to and from the district textbook depositoryHelps to develop and implements written policies concerning the selection, screening, and evaluation of materials and equipment including the acceptance of gifts for the library instructional media centerIntegrates group and individual instruction to students in the use of media resources and technology with classroom instructional programProvides guidance and instruction in researching media materialsProvides in-service to teachers in the use of media resources and technologyParticipates in team planning and collaborate with faculty in instructional strategies and the creation of instructional materialsProvides instruction in information navigation to teach students how to construct searches, evaluate information, and interpret dataPromotes literacy and literary appreciationAssists teachers in the selection of instructional materials (print, on-line, text, multimedia, etc.)Provides copyright compliance leadershipFacilitates an annual building textbook inventoryPersonally, or in cooperation with an assigned Systems Manager :Administers and troubleshoots Lab resources such as Jostens (ES / MS)

Benefits / Compensation :
Salary range : $62,925 - $118,608 (includes Base & TRI enrichment; commensurate upon FTE, degree, credits and experience). Salary schedules can be accessed here .Additional Compensation : Certificated positions may have additional pay provisions above what is represented on the salary range such as, but not limited to TRI professional learning, extended year days, extra appendix E supplemental days and professional development reimbursement.
