Position Summary

The Assistant Director of Development at the College of Family and Consumer Sciences within the University of Georgia, engages alumni, donors, and other members of the community in philanthropic support of the college. This individual will report directly to the Senior Director of Development and Alumni Relations for the college. This position will conduct consistent and meaningful qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship interactions with prospects and donors, as well as participate in alumni and donor engagement activities within the college. This position will act as a collaborator internally with the College of Family and Consumer Sciences and individually across campus. This individual will position donors in the best interest of the institution at large. This frontline fundraising professional will actively manage a prospect portfolio, identify and qualify new prospects, make discovery calls, and build a pool of new prospects and past donors through face-to-face and digital meetings, phone calls, and written communication. Emphasis is to be placed upon soliciting leadership annual gifts ($1,500-$49,999), with the intention of assisting in the development of a robust pipeline for major gift support for the college.

    Giving Program Manager

  • Develop and manage a portfolio of prospects / donors who are alumni, friends, parents, through identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship (monetary annual goals will be established).
  • Conduct an average of 12-15 face-to-face or meetings per month (130+ annually).
  • Leverage telephone, email, and digital / social media outreach to solicit gifts.
  • Travel, as appropriate, to develop and strengthen donor relationships.
  • Solicit and close gifts (emphasis on $1,500+) that benefit UGA FACS priorities, including preparation of proposals and materials.
  • Maintain active management strategies for all portfolio prospects, ensuring thorough and accurate recording of reports on all meetings and meaningful interactions.
  • Responsible for attaining, renewing, accruing, and upgrading donors year after year.
  • Ask to solicit for scholarships and endowments in addition to leadership and annual giving asks.
  • Report on FACS Annual Giving numbers monthly.
  • Responsible for achieving all annual fundraising and performance goals and for allocating and prioritizing time and resources to achieve the greatest return on investment.

    Liaison to Central Giving Office

  • Serve as Liaison to the University of Georgia's Central Giving Office, acting as a representative of the College of Family and Consumer Sciences.
  • Work in collaboration with the Central Annual Giving Office on cornerstone projects within the University, as well as projects specifically related to the College of Family and Consumer Sciences.
  • Develop and oversee annual giving appeals (direct mail / phone / electronic) for the College of Family and Consumer Sciences.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact of the college with Central Annual Giving, Parent Giving, and Development Officer team.

  • Attend monthly development meetings and participate in continuing education events as offered and deemed relevant.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact of the college development office with the Financial Planning Corporate Partner program, the Residential Property Management board and the Georgia Soft Goods Education Board.
  • Participate in a range of events on / off campus and strategically engage prospects, including alumni events, campus visits, dedications, stewardship and recognition events and more.

    College Liaison

  • Serve as the primary point of contact to develop priorities and annual giving fundraising plans around the College's respective departments, Office of Student Success and Advising and the Ralston Institute for Developmental Disabilities and Behavioral Health.
  • Collaborate internally at the College level with Development and Alumni staff, Finance and Human Relations staff, Marketing & Communications staff, Student Success staff, and others.
  • Create collaborative partnerships with department heads, faculty / staff, development and annual giving colleagues across campus to build effective fundraising strategies and maximize donor potential.
