Growing and mission-driven health services / insurance company in Austin, TX is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role will oversee core accounting functions, lead statutory reporting efforts, and ensure strong internal controls across multiple entities.

RESPONSIBILITES
Ensure accurate general ledger accounting and timely close processes, including intercompany transactions and eliminationsLead the preparation and filing of statutory financial statements for insurance entitiesAct as a primary liaison to external audit firms for both GAAP and statutory auditsAddress complex accounting matters including consolidations, revenue recognition, leases, and financial instrumentsDevelop, mentor, and manage a team of accounting professionalsEstablish, monitor, and continuously improve internal controls and compliance with Model Audit Rule (MAR) and / or SOXImplement and maintain accounting policies and procedures specific to health insurance entitiesIdentify and lead process improvements to streamline operations and enhance reporting accuracyQUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldCPA license6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience leading or mentoring teamsIn-depth understanding of US GAAP and technical accounting principlesExperience supporting financial audits, including preparation of audit schedules and documentationStrong communication, organizational, and leadership skillsComfortable operating in fast-paced and regulated environmentsProven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlinesExperience in health insurance or insurance accounting, preferredFamiliarity with statutory accounting principles, Model Audit Rule (MAR), or SOX compliance, preferredPrior experience with NetSuite or similar ERP system, preferredBig 4 or large regional public accounting background, preferredDemonstrated success in leading process improvement or automation initiatives, preferred
