Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med / Surg Tele RN for a Critical Access Hospital setting requiring a ND or compact RN license and competency in telemetry and respiratory equipment.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in an acute care hospital on a Med / Tele / Swingbed unit with a 19-bed capacity
  • Mixed patient population including acute and swingbed cases such as pneumonia, rehab, COPD, CHF, pancreatitis, and GI bleed
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio ranges from 1 : 3 to 1 : 6
  • Use Meditech EMR and Mindray telemetry monitors; proficiency in both is required
  • Required night shifts with 12-hour shifts, every other weekend, and every other holiday
  • Expect floating to Med / Tele Acute, Observation, and Swingbed units as needed
  • No call or standby responsibilities
  • RNs required to set up and be competent with BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula equipment
  • RNs read their own telemetry strips
  • RNs may participate as part of the code team as needed
  • Support staff includes one CNA per shift responsible for personal care, vitals, and weights
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Strong teamwork and a collaborative culture are emphasized in this unit
  • Must supply own scrubs in any color
  • Orientation consists of 3–4 unit-specific 12-hour shifts
  • RTO requests must be submitted up front and are limited to 7 days or fewer per 13-week contract

  • Active ND or compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of acute care RN experience with medical and telemetry units
  • Skill in IV starts, telemetry monitoring, NG and foley insertion required
  • Must be able to set up and manage BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula therapy
  • Applicants must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
  • Candidates must not have been employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year
