Head Teacher
The MCNU Children's School follows a progressive model of education for Kindergarten through Fifth Grade. The Head Teacher works closely with the Administrative Team to plan and supervise an exemplary curriculum for the designated program, using a reflective, inquiry approach to analyze and improve instruction. The successful candidate will support the development of children and adult learning by facilitating teacher-led inquiry for improvement of teaching.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
- Knowledge and skills required for this position are normally obtained through the completion of a Master's degree in Education with five or more years recent successful classroom teaching experience.
- CA State Teaching Credential Preferred.
- Knowledge of a Constructivist, Experiential model of education.
- Commit to a culturally sustaining education model.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to exhibit strong service orientation for all levels of college constituencies and members of the public.
- Ability to promote and sustain effective working relationships within a multicultural environment.
- Position is contingent upon fingerprinting / background check clearance and tuberculosis clearance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES :
Curriculum Instruction & Assessment : The Head Teacher facilitates the development and implementation of curriculum linked to the California State Standards. Regularly works with colleagues of the Children's School to study and assess children's learning in order continuously to improve instruction at the school and contribute more broadly to the knowledge base of teaching. Head Teachers will participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of activities and support of children. Uses academic and social emotional curriculum to support, supervise, and ensure the safety and well-being of children in the program.Centering praxis demonstrates a commitment to continuous learning and improvement, bridging theoretical knowledge and actionable practice, continually adapting and refining teaching practices based on ongoing experiences and understanding of educational theories.Student Teacher Support - Supports hands-on experiential learning by providing mentorship and coaching to undergraduate and / or graduate students' integration of learning theory and classroom practice.Communication - Maintain active and open communication with parents / guardians of the children and with the other members of the Children's School staff. This includes home-school visits, parent / teacher conferences, newsletters, parent meetings, and weekly staff meetings.Admissions Liaison - Supports admissions recruitment and retention by participating in tours.Position Type : Academic Administration

Base Pay Rate : $84,460.00
