Overview

The OTR Driver will operate a commercial box truck that requires a Class E Driver's License to pick-up and deliver parcels. Spur Freight, Inc. are responsible for safely and accurately deliver and pickup cargo, keep accurate driving log- ELD and for inspect and maintain the company trucks.

Responsibilities

Drive truck to and from specified destinations safely and follow all state, local laws, and DOT regulations

• Focuses on safety and compliance including the real time reporting of any accidents, incidents encountered on the road, monitoring of road conditions and following all applicable traffic laws
• Handles general fleet maintenance including appropriate fueling, cleaning of truck, washing of windows, full inspection of truck before and after trip and proactive reporting of any maintenance needs
• Prepare receipt for load picked up or bill of lading
• Maintain driver hours of service using electronics logs and ensures rest periods according to state and federal regulations
• Maintains and ensures compliance with DOT and other applicable regulations, including State or Federal regulations
• Provides timely communication with supervisor / manager regarding the status of daily route; including, when stops have been completed, when taking lunch or other brakes, and prior to clocking out
• Ensures timeliness of client delivery by proactively anticipating any delivery challenges and ensuring timely departure
• Inspect truck equipment and supplies. Ensure time, date, verification, and signature on all freight paperwork
• Perform emergency roadside repairs, secure cargo with proper equipment; load bars, e-track, and straps during transit
• May load and unload truck when not driving the truck
• May operate a forklift or pallet jack when not driving the truck
• Destination may be either Short Haul or Long Haul
• Maintain a clean work environment and follow safety policies
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Complies with all policies and standards
