Position Summary :

The Nurse Extern is accountable for providing nursing assistance and performing basic nursing procedures to patients within an assigned nursing department, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Can only be delegated those tasks for which they have had successful clinical training through their school of nursing and for which they have received validation.

Nurse Extern spots are reserved for nursing students intending to work for SCH upon graduation. The below is also required prior to hire and may be submitted priot to start date :

• Letter of Rec from instructor of choice
• Unofficial Transcript
• Current Class Schedule (and updated schedule and proof passing grades each semester for length of extern program)
• Copy of any nursing skills completed during school

Signed 2 year LPN commitment to SCH. Includes :

Education :

High school diploma or equivalent Enrollment in Board of Nursing approved school of nursing

Experience :

Completion of nursing fundamentals and / or basic Medical / Surgical clinical rotation

Licensure / Certification :

None
