Job Title : Stormwater Technician
The City of Altamonte Springs is seeking a skilled individual for the role of Stormwater Technician within the Public Works department, specifically in the Stormwater division. This full-time position offers a salary range of $34,320.00 - $36,400.00 annually and is based in Altamonte Springs, FL.
Position Function :
Supply skilled labor in concrete construction and maintenance of the City's stormwater system.
Tasks / Duties :
- Perform all concrete type work : foundations, spillways, retaining walls, rip rap dams, walls, sidewalks, inlets, and outfalls, and assist in all concrete maintenance duties.
- Block and brick laying, carpentry work, and making forms.
- Removal of sod, digging, and setting forms; mixing, pouring, and finishing concrete, installation of drainage pipes, and maintenance of City retention ponds, including mowing.
- Drive dump truck (Under 26,000 lbs.) and operate light / heavy equipment including but not limited to : concrete mixer, concrete saws, compressors, generators, pumps, mowers; and able to use small hand tools and concrete finishing tools.
- Assist Streets and Sanitation in spring clean-up, roadway repairs, and emergency situations.
- Able to work from a boat and assist in the operation and maintenance of stormwater pumps and aquatic weed control.
- Must be available for emergency callouts and on call duty.
- Perform additional duties, as assigned.
- To communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and follow oral & written instructions.
- Complete required trainings as specified within the City's Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan.
- In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential and may be required to perform duties outside of their normal job description.
Qualifications :
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Six (6) months experience finishing concrete, block and brick-work, or one (1) year experience in a construction trade.Valid Driver License. Must obtain Florida driver license within thirty (30) days of employment.PREFERABLE QUALIFICATIONS :
Experience in the installation of storm drainage pipes.General carpentry skills.Class C Stormwater license.Valid State of Florida Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) with air brake endorsement.Qualified Stormwater Management Inspector (Erosion and Sediment Control).Willingness to adopt A / I and emerging technologies.Supplemental Information :
Applicants will be required to complete a Disclosure & Authorization Regarding Background Investigation, a Confidentiality Agreement, and a criminal background screening. Driving history for the past three (3) years must reflect no violations of a driving related felony offense, or driving under the influence (DUI) which includes both drugs and alcohol, reckless driving, or hit and run involving an occupied vehicle or attended property, or an accumulation of traffic violations, plus three (3) points for each attendance at driving school (regardless of whether points were assessed against the license) where the penalty points do not exceed twelve (12). Position is considered at-risk for exposure to Hepatitis B during performance of regular duties. An acceptance / declination of vaccination form is required.
