Overview

Wilberforce University is seeking a part-time Webmaster to manage, update, and maintain the University's website to ensure that it is accurate, user-friendly, visually engaging, and aligned with the institution's mission. The Webmaster will serve as the primary point of contact for web-related needs and will work collaboratively with departments to ensure timely updates and consistent branding.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update website content, including academic programs, events, announcements, and policy information.
  • Ensure website functionality, accessibility, and compliance with ADA and other applicable standards.
  • Monitor website performance, security, and uptime; coordinate with IT or external vendors as needed.
  • Support the integration of online tools (student portals, HR systems, etc.) into the website.
  • Collaborate with University leadership and departments to post accurate and timely content.
  • Ensure consistency in branding, graphics, and messaging across the site.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of the website to identify outdated or inaccurate information.
  • Train designated staff in basic content updates when appropriate.

Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Web Design, Computer Science, Information Technology, Communications, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • Demonstrated experience in website management and content updates (WordPress, Drupal, or similar CMS).
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and web accessibility standards.
  • Work Schedule & Compensation

  • Part-time : 10–20 hours per week (flexible schedule; may include occasional evening / weekend work for urgent updates).
  • Remote work is available.
  • Compensation : Commensurate with experience.
