General Position Summary :

Oversees the parish’s entire musical efforts; adult choir director; children’s choir director; organist for other Masses; oversees part-time music staff; maintains instruments and assists in the selection of future pipe organ expansion; develops and grows music ministry in accord with Pastor’s vision and the key goals of glorifying God and fostering the sanctification of souls.

Principal Accountabilities :

• Directs St. Cecilia Choir for adults and high schoolers (11 AM Mass; Thursday night rehearsals Assumption – end of May)
• Directs Schola consisting of four paid section leaders (9 AM Mass; special occasions)
• Directs Children’s Choir (weekly rehearsals; 9 AM Mass once a month; Christmas Eve; Palm Sunday)
• Organist for 3 other weekend Masses and Holy Days of Obligation; to include organ voluntaries of the highest quality and performance standard
• Provides music for Holy Days, Easter Triduum, Christmas, etc.
• Recruits, trains volunteer Cantors and paid singers
• Recruits’ instrumentalists, both volunteers, parishioners and professional, for special occasions
• Supervises maintenance of organ and pianos
• Organizes recital series featuring pipe organ with various artists and / or choral ensembles
• Assists in plans for future pipe organ expansion
• Assists in selection of bells for change ringing
• Fosters ongoing liturgical formation of the parish
• Developing additional choral ensembles
• Develops parish efforts to evangelize through Church music through classes, articles, teaching at Catholic Kids Camp
• All associated administrative tasks
• Prepares seasonal or weekly service leaflets including Christmas and Triduum booklets
• Interacts with parishioners, present at parish events

Education and Experience Preferred :

Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church.

Knowledge and Skills Preferred :

FLSA Designation : Exempt, Full Time. 40 Hours per week.
