Position Announcement
The attorney serving in the Assistant General Counsel position in the Office of General Counsel (OGC) reports directly to the University's General Counsel. The Assistant General Counsel advises and represents the University on a broad array of higher education legal issues, with a focus on student affairs, Title IX, Compliance, and policy development. This attorney devotes significant attention to mitigating University liability risk and supporting the University in student-related issues (including housing, academic and behavioral misconduct), Title IX or protected class discrimination, harassment, retaliation, disability issues, contract review, advising campus committees, and providing various legal trainings as needed. The Assistant General Counsel functions with minimal supervision, but is a collaborating team member within OGC. This attorney frequently provides legal advice in other practice areas as needed. The ability to recognize issues of concern, solve problems, propose potential resolutions, provide needed follow-up, and work collaboratively is imperative.

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS : Full-time overtime-exempt staff position. Annual salary of $100,000-$115,000. Desired start date of January 2026.
