Responsibilities
- Provide best-in-class guest service : greet guests, respond to questions / concerns quickly and courteously, assist guests with gaming needs, inform guests of promotions, recommend additional items, apply selling behaviors, and circulate throughout the store to prioritize guests over tasks.
- Support the total shopping environment and current sales initiatives; nurture guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
- Process guest purchases / returns accurately using the POS system; ensure correct changes, proper bagging, receipts, and high-quality guest service.
- Respond to guest inquiries in person or by phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager as needed.
- Promote GameStop guest benefits (e.g., new title reservations, trade-in program, Pro Rewards).
- Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates on policies and guidelines.
- Supervise Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the Store Manager's absence; provide timely feedback and address performance issues as directed.
- Ensure onboarding and training are completed prior to opening or closing shifts; understand policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, financial protocol, and ethical responsibilities.
- Schedule store associates to follow guidelines, manage breaks, and maintain optimum staffing to ensure guest service.
- Assist with payroll, time off requests, and time edits; verify accurate compensation for time worked.
- Maintain clean, organized store areas and ensure fixtures / equipment are in good working order; ensure Omni-Channel orders are fulfilled daily.
- Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention; conduct routine checks and communicate concerns to the Store Manager.
- Support sales, profitability, and shrink goals; perform administrative and operational duties as required.
- Complete store inventory counts, restock merchandise, and ensure products are well represented on the sales floor.
- Manage daily closeout tasks, including balancing POS totals, completing closeout paperwork, and handling deposits per guidelines.
- Verify shipments for discrepancies, conduct inventories, and report issues to the Store Manager / District Manager.
- Process defectives / recalls and stock pulls promptly and label boxes with packing lists.
- Maintain associate and guest safety; report injuries promptly per company guidelines.
- Keep store records / files organized and ensure manuals are up to date.
- Adhere to GameStop policies and opening / closing procedures.
Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.Must be at least 18 years old.High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and / or management experience preferred.Video game knowledge preferred.Key skills and abilities
Outgoing and welcoming personality with strong people skills.Provide genuine, individualized guest assistance during every visit.Clear verbal and written communication; English proficiency; bilingual English / Spanish preferred.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and both independently and as a team member.Meet performance expectations, including attendance, appearance, safety, and respectful workplace conduct.Operate the POS system; basic math and alphabetizing skills.Complete required paperwork and follow instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.Flexible scheduling, including nights, weekends, and some holidays; minimum availability of 3 days / week.Ability to handle pressure, be a problem solver, and maintain guest service quality.Reliable and trustworthy with good judgment; able to work alone and move around the store for extended periods.Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs and perform necessary movements; basic safety awareness.Pay
