Must-Have :

2 years of experience in Medical Surgical

Experience with NG placement, Foley placement, blood administration, heparin and insulin drips

Description :

The unit consists of 18 beds.

Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 5-6.

Common diagnoses include hysterectomy, mastectomy, postpartum patients, and general medical / surgical patients.

RNs are required to titrate drips such as heparin and insulin.

There is one Charge Nurse on each shift.

The Charge Nurse takes an assignment.

There are patient care technicians available with a ratio of one for every 12 patients.

If there are more than 12 patients, there are two patient care technicians.

RT equipment includes CPAP.

Patients may have heart monitors, but strips are not read by RNs.

Shifts are 12 hours, starting at 7 : 00 PM.

Travelers will fill shifts based on greatest need.

The weekend requirement is four shifts per scheduling period.

There is a holiday requirement as part of the core staff rotation.

There is no call or standby requirement.

Floating to other general medical units may be required.

Scrubs of any color are acceptable.

There is one shift of unit-specific orientation.
