SUMMARY OF THE ROLE

The Senior Accountant, Operations Accounting will support NextDecades commercial and operational activities by ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with U.S. GAAP, and effective accounting processes across LNG inventory, logistics, and cost of goods sold. This role will be instrumental in designing and implementing accounting workflows and systemsincluding ETRM, Marine Freight, and Inventory Reportingwhile maintaining the integrity of accounting records for fixed assets, leases, and other operational transactions. The Senior Accountant will partner cross-functionally with IT, Commercial, and Operations teams, contribute to policy development, and support internal and external audits. This position is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional with strong technical expertise and a drive to help build scalable processes in a dynamic, high-growth environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Participate in the design and implementation of various IT systems including but not limited to the ETRM, Marine Freight System, and Inventory Reporting.
• Prepare, record, analyze and report accounting transactions and ensure the integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies.
• Support the design and implementation of accounting workflows for LNG inventory, logistics, and cost of goods sold.
• Maintain and reconcile fixed asset subledger and ensure proper capitalization and depreciation.
• Assist in developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures for new operational activities including but not limited to lease accounting requirements under ASC 842.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and responding to inquiries.
• Other accounting and special projects as requested.

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional office environment with occasional work within or outside of a complex construction environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers / fax, filing cabinets, etc. This is primarily a sedentary role; however, the incumbent must be able to stand and / or sit continuously to perform all essential job functions for a full shift.

Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. as required in order to lift files, boxes and office equipment as necessary.

The incumbent is required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Ability to move throughout all areas of each office / site location and facilities.

Able to wear all necessary PPE equipment to perform job functions.
