Responsibilities

• The attorney, based in Richmond, will serve as a prosecutor in the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU).
• Oversees the investigation, prosecution and negotiation of criminal violations involving fraud and / or abuse in the Virginia Medicaid Program committed by health care providers.
• Assigns to prosecute criminal cases in federal and state courts.
• Coordinate periodic meetings with the investigative staff to conduct a review of evidence as the cases develop, with advice rendered on methods of gathering significant evidence and the legal issues related to those matters.
• Coordinate prosecution strategies with state and federal prosecutors.
• Organize the open case file and maintain case files in accordance with the MFCU grant.
• Employment is conditioned upon a favorable completion of a background investigation.
• Selected applicant must be able to secure and maintain an appointment as a Special Assistant United States Attorney.
