Medina Hospital’s 3 South nursing unit is a 32-bed unit that specializes in general medical surgical care for adult and geriatric patients with an emphasis on observation. 3 South delivers care to a variety of other conditions including pneumonia, diabetes, sepsis, GI bleed, cellulitis, COPD exacerbation, various cancers, kidney stones, and bowel obstructions. This unit also cares for, but is not limited to, patients undergoing hysterectomies, thyroidectomies, colon resections and appendectomies. As an RN on this team, you will assist fellow caregivers in providing exceptional care, from initial introduction to final send-off. In this role, you will interact directly with patients, families and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and deliver healthcare education as needed.

Caregivers during orientation will be exposed to both day and off shift rotations. Caregivers may choose to pick shifts that will work within their schedule. We do ask caregivers to target off shift, weekends and holidays as able. We are able to allow caregivers to choose shift availability, as long as they meet the minimum requirements for the position during the scheduling period.

This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working various shifts between 7 : 00 a.m. 7 : 30 p.m. and 7 : 00 p.m. – 7 : 30 a.m. with weekend requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will :

Provide direct nursing care.

Implement and monitor patient care plans.

Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.

Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.

Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include :

Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (ADN or BSN program)

Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)

Two years of recent related nursing experience for external applicants OR less than two years of experience, but post orientation / 90-day probationary period considered with the Chief Nursing Officer approval for internal applicants OR military RN experience

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include :

Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements :

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.

Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.

Exposure to communicable diseases and / or body fluids.

Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and / or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment :

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
