American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a combined Pediatric and Adult Med Surg Tele unit, requiring an active AZ or compact RN license and three years of recent experience.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 10-bed acute care mixed unit serving both pediatric and adult Med Surg Tele (MST) patientsPatient ratios are 1 : 3-4 for pediatrics and 1 : 5 for adultsPatient population includes surgical cases (e.g., joint replacements, bowel resection), medical cases (e.g., COPD, pneumonia, infections), telemetry chest pain, and pediatric respiratory illnessesCare for both adults and children is required, with occasional floating to MST or birthing / couplets units as census demands12-hour day shifts with every other weekend and holiday rotation requiredUses Cerner EMR; experience is preferredTelemetry monitoring required for adult MST patients, with bedside monitors for pediatric patients and remote monitor techsStandby rotation required if census is lowNavy scrubs requiredResponsible for primary care of pediatric and adult MST patients, including both surgical and medical cases and telemetry monitoringExpected to assist with stabilizing pediatric patients for transfer when necessaryWill float to related units as needed, including couplets and birthing units if qualifiedOrientation provided by the hospital and unit based on experienceHoliday coverage is distributed fairly on a rotation basisNursing assistants typically take 10 patients; if no NA, RN takes 3 patientsRequired to complete and pass sterile technique assessments for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on first day of orientationFirst-time travelers are acceptedTwo references required : one supervisor reference from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or compact state RN license required at time of submissionCurrent BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications requiredMinimum of three years of recent acute care RN experience, including pediatric careAbility to care for both pediatric and adult patientsMust pass a dysrhythmia exam with an 80% score within two attempts prior to contract confirmationMust be able to read telemetry stripsMust live at least 50 miles from the facilityCandidates may not have worked full time, part time, or PRN at any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year\n Benefits\n
