Job Details

  • Registered Professional Nurse providing safe, competent quality care based on nursing theory and research to a designated group of patients and significant others in the Radiology Department at Mount Sinai Hospital.
  • Delivers patient care incorporating Relationship Centered Care and nursing process based on theory, research, evidence-based practice, and organizational nursing standards.
  • Assesses and evaluates patient care needs applying critical thinking skills.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary healthcare team in plan of care development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Prioritizes patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching, planning after hospital care, and delegating as appropriate.
  • Educates patients and caregivers about plan of care, transition of care, health promotion, and disease prevention.
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, family, and healthcare team members.
  • Manages assignments within Modified Primary Nursing care delivery model and allocates material resources effectively.
  • Role models Mount Sinai Relationship Centered Care through various patient care actions such as Admission Welcome, Bedside shift Report, Purposeful Hourly Rounding, Medication Review, Discharge Wrap Up, and MD / RN Unit Collaboration.
  • Considers patient values, preferences, cultural diversity, expressed needs, and knowledge in all aspects of care.
  • Establishes and maintains therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Uses evidence-based practices to understand patients' perceptions of care.
  • Initiates service recovery for patient and family concerns and escalates as needed.
  • Demonstrates caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening.
  • Supports staff use of evidence-based practices to understand patient perceptions.
  • Conducts Purposeful Hourly Rounding addressing the 4 Ps.
  • Practices safe and efficient patient-centered care, identifying and escalating barriers and opportunities for improvement.
  • Demonstrates clinical skills and knowledge crucial to quality and safety in patient population served.
  • Implements process improvement strategies based on institutional and evidence-based procedures.
  • Engages in peer and institutional review processes.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams on quality improvement projects, evidence-based practice activities, and nursing research studies.
  • Contributes to quality and safety practices and compliance measures.
  • Implements high reliability principles to avoid high risk behaviors and provide a safe environment.
  • Escalates potential safety hazards or gaps following institutional chain of command.
  • Utilizes institutional information technology for documentation supporting quality and performance improvement.
  • Performs charge nurse duties as assigned.
  • Coordinates with nursing leadership to ensure appropriate supply utilization and inventory for patient care.
  • Escalates material or staffing resource deficits to appropriate nursing leadership.
  • Demonstrates patient-focused and cost-effective approaches to patient care regarding equipment, staff, and supplies.
  • Documents accurately and thoroughly in compliance with hospital, regulatory, and legal requirements and standards of care.
  • Facilitates patient throughput on shift basis.
  • Contributes to environment of care supporting clinical colleagues, patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Advances clinical competence from novice to expert.
  • Projects professional image and communicates with caring, respect, compassion, and empathy.
  • Incorporates ethical principles into decision making for patient and family.
  • Encourages and demonstrates scholarship, inquiry, lifelong learning, and innovation.
  • Acquires knowledge and skills relative to role, patient population, clinical specialty, and health community needs.

  • Job Requirements

  • NYS Registered Nurse License required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
  • Minimum 2 years of ambulatory outpatient and radiation safety experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience.
  • 1 year travel experience required for travel positions (not required for Per Diem positions).
  • EPIC experience highly preferred.

  • Schedule : 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (3x12).
