Overview
Our Client, an automotive manufacturing company, is looking for an Electrical Quality Engineer for their Lansing, MI location.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily requests for support solving issues and utilize Red X Tools to root cause.
- Develop quick containments with robust long term solutions to different problems.
- Present the Assembly Plant and Engineering Staff with clear problem definition and technical guidance on complex problems.
- Support Launch of new products in the plant.
- Manage Supplier Quality problems as they arise and work with issues using the SPPS process to document and resolve.
- Develop quality standards and procedures for the plant.
- Manage multiple projects with broad scope and high degree of difficulty.
- Generate unique technical solutions utilizing 7 Diamonds Process, Red X and other tools as applicable.
- Assist production in prevention of defect occurrence and recommend process changes.
- Work with Launch Team on new vehicle builds. Support IRT Co-Chairs as necessary and transition commodities into the team as launch progresses into saleable builds.
- Work with suppliers to address SPPS's issued and ensure robust countermeasures.
- Work with suppliers and engineering to develop inspection standards for parts and subassemblies.
- Share Lessons Learned with Engineering to prevent repeat design or build issues.
- Review of nonconforming parts and sub-assemblies for proper initial disposition and root cause follow-up.
- Coordinate periodic system and process audits at the plant and at suppliers.
- Coordinate quality evaluation of new vehicles with engineering and production.
- Coordinate engineering change implementation.
- Evaluate employee suggestions.
- Issue technical reports and make presentations to management.
- Domestic and Global Travel as required.
- Address module issues end of line. Handle supplier quality issues. Issue SPPS. Issue PRTS. Maintain module supplier quality sheet. Work with DVT coordinator on software issues.
- Address all end of line module and software failures. Enter defect losses into GSIP.
Qualifications
High school diploma is required. A technical degree in electrical engineering is a plus.3 to 5 years of experience, preferably in automotive or with suppliers; electrical background is valued.Electrical background : understanding electrical schematics and how software interfaces with schematics.Computer skills : proficient with Excel and formulas; able to look up specs and math data.Vehicle software knowledge; Vspy is a bonus (vehicle spy to pull part numbers and logs).Demonstrated ability to attain results while balancing technical solutions with business imperatives.Strong analytical / problem-solving skills with the ability to identify solutions to unusual and complex problems.Generate technical solutions utilizing 7 Diamonds, Red X, DFMEA Tools and others as applicable.Must excel at problem solving – root cause, containment, robust long-term solutions.Exercises independent judgment in managing complex and ambiguous tasks with minimal input from supervisor.Understanding of lean concepts.Thorough understanding of and ability to operate in all areas of the plant production process.Effective communicator with solid oral and written presentation skills.Preferred
Advanced degree in Engineering.Electrical systems knowledge in wiring or electronic module communication.Familiar with 7-diamond process.Red X Journeyman Certification.Engineering Work Order (EWO) / Parts Release familiarity.Familiar with pulling prints, reading drawings, Vismoc, GDIS, GSIP, GQTS, PRTS, PADs.Supplier audit experience.Knowledge of PPAP requirements.Production Group Leader Experience.Certified Quality Engineer.Why Should You Apply?
