Overview
Gaithersburg HELP is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization providing emergency food and infant supplies, transportation and financial assistance for medical prescriptions and other emergency needs.
Responsibilities
- Drive Gaithersburg seniors and adults with disabilities to medical and social service appointments in the local area.
- Wait with the client and then return the client to home; for lengthy appointments, return and pick up the client when the client is ready.
- Log into the client database to book ride requests and / or manage requests via email.
- Contact clients at the time of booking and the day before appointments to verify pickup time and destination addresses.
- Transport clients to and from medical or service appointments; target destinations are generally within a 20-mile radius of downtown Gaithersburg.
Qualifications and Requirements
Must be 21 years of age or olderMust have an active Maryland driver's license in good standing (a chauffeur's license is not required)Since drivers use their own vehicles, the vehicle must be registered in Maryland and have auto liability insurance with limits of at least 30,000 / $60,000 (Maryland minimum)A background / MVA check will be performedMinimum Age for Volunteers 21
