Helix Community Schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational School-Based Therapist to join our Student Support Services team. The therapist will play a key role in promoting student success by helping learners develop, improve, and maintain the skills necessary for participation and independence in the school environment.

Responsibilities

Provide occupational therapy services to students as outlined in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Conduct assessments to determine students' functional abilities and needs in the educational setting.

Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that support academic and functional skill development.

Collaborate with teachers, parents, and related service providers to integrate therapy goals into classroom activities.

Support student participation in daily school routines, including fine motor skills, sensory regulation, self-care, and social interaction.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including evaluation reports, therapy notes, and progress monitoring.

Provide consultation and training for staff to support strategies and accommodations in the classroom.

Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of student goals.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.

Current Louisiana license (or eligibility) to practice Occupational Therapy.

Experience working with school-aged children, preferably in an educational or pediatric setting.

Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills.

Knowledge of evidence-based practices and strategies to support students with diverse needs.
