Overview

Axsome Therapeutics, Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company developing and delivering novel therapies for the management of central nervous system (CNS) disorders. Axsome is based in New York City and is seeking a Medical Science Liaison / Senior Medical Science Liaison to focus on Alzheimer’s Disease Agitation. The MSL / Sr. MSL will be a key member of the Field Medical Affairs team and will be the primary communicator of Axsome science, responsible for executing the national medical affairs plan within a specified territory. This is a field-based position covering the Great Lakes Region (MI, IN, IL, WI, IA, MN, ND, SD, NE). Candidates must reside within the geography.

Responsibilities

  • Systematically identify and develop relationships with healthcare professionals (HCPs) and key opinion leaders (KOLs) to raise awareness of Axsome’s mission to accelerate the invention and adoption of life-changing medicines for patients living with CNS disorders
  • Develop and maintain deep knowledge of neuropsychiatry, approved pipeline medications, and the competitive landscape in the specified therapeutic area
  • Provide fair and balanced scientific information to HCPs and internal business partners as needed
  • Upon request, provide formal presentations to HCPs, external stakeholders, etc.
  • Communicate meaningful insights from peer-to-peer discussions with HCPs
  • Identify, analyze, and translate territory needs to achieve clinical and business objectives
  • Collaborate with internal partners to advance clinical and business objectives
  • Build and maintain technical and clinical expertise in neuropsychiatry and related neuroscience areas
  • Actively contribute to the growth and development of the National Field Medical Team
  • Document field activities, submit medical insights, respond to medical information requests, submit expense reports, complete required trainings, and perform related tasks
  • Provide high-level support for company-sponsored trials and assist with investigator-initiated research proposals when needed

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MD, PharmD or PhD) required
  • Previous MSL experience preferred
  • Preference for candidates with Alzheimer’s Disease or Geriatric Psychiatry experience
  • Candidate must reside within the geographic area
  • Ability to travel up to 75%, including overnight stays and weekends, as needed
  • Meet requirements for health industry representative credentialing to gain access to healthcare facilities within the territory

  • Salary & Benefits

    The anticipated salary range for this role is $150,000 - $200,000. Axsome offers a competitive employment package that includes an annual bonus, significant equity and a generous benefits package. There may be flexibility on final job title and responsibilities based on experience, qualifications, internal equity, and location.
