Position Description
In this salaried bargaining unit UAW-represented position, the Plant Engineer opportunity offers potential for individual growth and advancement in a dynamic, rapidly changing, team-based environment. This position is responsible for the planning, development, and coordination of engineering and construction activities with regard to facilities, utilities, layout of machines, equipment, workstations, test facilities, material handling and storage systems necessary for vehicle production. This position may entail specifying and / or design equipment control systems, including PLC's, vision systems, laser scanners, robotic welders, material handling systems and RFID tag systems. Specify and / or design electrical power distribution systems for manufacturing machinery and facilities equipment. Maintain arc flash protection program, distribution system single lines and distribution system layout.
Responsibilities
- Prepare cost estimates and written specifications for equipment procurement and installation.
- Plan, develop, and coordinate engineering and construction activities related to facilities, utilities, layout of machines, workstations, and related systems for vehicle production.
- Specify and / or design equipment control systems (examples include PLCs, vision systems, laser scanners, robotic welders, material handling systems, and RFID tag systems).
- Specify and / or design electrical power distribution systems for manufacturing machinery and facilities equipment.
- Maintain arc flash protection program and distribution system layout.
- Ensure objectives related to cost, quality, schedule, and safety are met in a cross-functional team environment.
Position Requirements
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a strong work ethic contributing to the team's success in meeting multiple objectives efficiently and economically.Minimum requirements : Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology (Electrical Engineering preferred) or Associate's Degree in Engineering / Technology (Electrical Engineering preferred); minimum 5 years of related experience preferred.Thorough knowledge of plant layout, material handling and storage techniques, and equipment / systems installation and modification, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, welding, painting, and metal preparation.Experience in field work and ability to determine conformance with plans and specifications preferred.Knowledge of OSHA / health and safety, environmental, and ergonomic standards.Familiarity with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing tools strongly desired.Computer knowledge of CAD engineering layouts is beneficial.Must be able to spend the majority of time on the manufacturing floor; significant time outside and in adverse weather conditions may be required.Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain a secret level security clearance.J-18808-Ljbffr
