We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Field Construction Manager to join our team at K&A Engineering in Rochester, New York. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging projects that make a real impact in the energy and utility sectors. You’ll be part of a dynamic, people-focused team where your expertise, ideas, and contributions will be valued and celebrated.
Role Expectations :
- Attend pre-construction meeting.
- Run weekly progress meetings.
- Observe and document site construction activities.
- Verify tailboards and JHA’s are adequate.
- Notify the Construction Manager in the event of an incident.
- Prepare daily construction reports, take 5 and weekly reports.
- Use photos to document progress.
- Record material deliveries and returns.
- Attend any contractor led safety, environmental or progress meetings.
- Be on site contact for RG&E Project Team.
- Assist with on-site communication with the Construction Manager.
- Monitor construction progress vs IFC’s
- Ensure field change markups are completed.
- Observe and document installation and effectiveness of environmental control measures.
- Monitor contractor QA / QC plan implementation.
- Notify the Construction Manager of any environmental concerns.
- Monitor construction progress vs project schedule.
- Complete 2 sets of Red Line drawings throughout project with contractor.
- Schedule and hold outages as needed.
What we’re looking for :
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent education with 10 years relevant experience required.A minimum of ten (10) years of progressive related electric utility industry experience, with transmission facilities construction management experience preferred.Five (5) years' experience in a supervisory capacity preferredKnowledge of NRA clearances and switching orders would be beneficialExpert with Distribution SystemsApplicants should have the knowledge, experience, and skills needed to review project plans, specifications, contract enforcement, and applicable technical standards, OSHA, and other regulatory statutes.Detailed work experience in electrical Utility transmission UV / OV & civil constructionKnowledge of GPS Systems & knowledge of SAP is preferredCandidates must hold a NICET Level II certification.Ability to read and interpret specifications and drawings and convey interpretations to contractorsAbility to investigate and solve construction problems in a timely manner with minimum dependence on othersComputer and Administrative skillsStrong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsMust have current US Work authorization and valid US Driver License in good standingPay Range $45—$55 / hour
