As the Chief Broadcast Engineer , you will manage all broadcast, master control, and production engineering services for KOHD, KBNZ, COTV, CO4 Visitor's Network, and digital cable ad insertion technologies. You will also be responsible for all maintenance, testing, modification, documentation and supervision of the technical operation in compliance with all FCC rules and regulations for two remote transmitters and two translator sites.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the leadership and management of day-to-day technical, operational and administrative requirement of Master Control and cable ad insertion, and support of day-to-day technical and operational requirements of the Newsroom and Creative Services.
- Manage and maintain all broadcast equipment and systems used in the daily operation of the stations as well as any ancillary systems used in the support and troubleshooting of technical issues as they arise.
- Work closely with the Station Engineer and Master Control Operators in developing their knowledge and understanding of the various needs of the station as effective back-up support staff.
- Establish engineering policies and procedures and maintain equipment inventory.
- Supervise and train staff and contractors on use of equipment.
- Manage departmental and project budgets.
- Stay current on new technology and developments serving as technical advisor to General Manager and other department heads.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of FCC rules, regulations and compliance requirements.
- Communicate and coordinate facilities and contractors for electrical and HVAC.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree (or higher) -OR- 4+ years professional work experience.5+ years of station-level broadcast television engineering experience.Must have and maintain a valid driver's license, reliable transportation and insurance.Other Qualifications
Extensive knowledge of broadcast electronics, RF broadcast operations, legacy video technology, digital delivery systems, automation systems and technical systems design.Experience with deploying and maintaining encoding and streaming environments.Excellent judgement and ability to diagnose issues, problem solve and handle complex issues under pressure or in emergency situations.Excellent verbal communications and written skills with the ability to research, design and document procedures, workflows and processes.Ability to adequately communicate and coordinate with facilities and contractors for electrical and HVAC.Ability to work in an on-call environment and with a flexible schedule, including occasional extended hours in the evenings or weekends.Self-starter and ability to work multiple projects simultaneously.Direct experience with Harris ADC Automation, Evertz Routing, Ross Video switching and graphics software, Triveni Guidebuilder, Arris Digital Cable Ad Insertion hardware and software, Telestream Vantage.We believe in taking care of our team, which is why we offer comprehensive benefits to support your health, financial well-being, and overall happiness. Pay Range (Hr. / Yr.) : $73,800.00 / Yr. - $120,000.00 / Yr.
