YWCA Greater Lafayette
Help Survivors Find Safety, Stability, and Hope
At YWCA Greater Lafayette, we're dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. Our Domestic Violence Intervention and Prevention Program (DVIPP) provides life-changing support for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.
We're looking for a Housing Case Advocate who is passionate about helping survivors rebuild their lives. In this role, you'll be the bridge between crisis and stability—connecting survivors to safe housing, critical resources, and the confidence to move forward.
About the Role
The Housing Case Advocate provides direct, survivor-centered advocacy and case management with a focus on housing-first, rapid rehousing services. You'll work one-on-one with survivors to identify barriers, locate housing, coordinate financial assistance, and connect them with community resources.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, emotionally meaningful environment—someone who believes that housing is the foundation for healing and independence.
What You'll Do
Provide individualized, trauma-informed case management and housing support to survivors.
Help clients secure safe, affordable housing by assisting with applications, move-in coordination, and landlord relations.
Administer and document financial assistance for rent, deposits, and utilities in compliance with grant requirements.
Collaborate with landlords, community partners, and internal teams to promote housing stability.
Participate in 24 / 7 on-call rotation to provide emergency advocacy when needed.
Maintain accurate, confidential records and documentation.
Advocate for clients with legal, medical, and social service agencies as needed.
Engage in ongoing training and professional development related to housing, advocacy, and trauma-informed care.
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience required.
Experience in advocacy, social services, or housing preferred.
Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and survivor empowerment.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage crisis situations calmly and professionally.
Knowledge of local housing resources and landlord engagement strategies a plus.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
Must hold a valid driver's license and be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
Why Join Us
At YWCA Greater Lafayette, every day is an opportunity to make a tangible difference. You'll be part of a dedicated, compassionate team working toward justice and empowerment for all. Together, we help survivors move from fear to freedom, from instability to security, and from crisis to confidence.
This is a full-time, exempt, in-person position. Employment is contingent on a background and fingerprint check.
YWCA Greater Lafayette is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
