Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU position managing complex critical care patients on night shifts, requiring IN or compact RN licensure and at least two years of ICU experience.
Responsibilities
Work in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospitalPatient population includes sepsis, DKA, respiratory failure, COPD, atrial fibrillation, NSTEMI without intervention, acute mental status changes, and hypertensive emergenciesStaffing ratios are 1 : 212-hour night shifts (3x12), 17 : 00-5 : 30Weekend requirement is 1 weekend every 3 weeksMay be required to float to medical-surgical units and within the hospital or to affiliate hospitalsUses Cerner EMRResponsible for comprehensive critical care management and intervention for complex ICU patientsFirst time travelers are accepted for this positionMust adhere to infection prevention, isolation precautions, and proper use of PPECandidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidaysDress code and scrub requirements follow hospital policyUp to 5 days of requested time off (RTO) may be auto-approvedRequirements
Active IN or compact RN license in hand at time of considerationMinimum 2 years of ICU experience requiredCurrent BCLS certification required; ACLS preferredExperience with dysrhythmia interpretation / management, multi-system organ failure, IV insulin protocols, GI surgery, accessing ports, arterial and central line management, PICC management, starting IVs, blood product administration, ventilator and BiPAP / CPAP care, HFNC, ABG interpretation, procedural and continuous IV sedation, titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, phlebotomy, and surgical wound careMust have graduated from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNEExperience with Cerner charting requiredMust not be a current Indiana residentReturning perm or PRN IU employees must wait at least 12 months before applying as a travelerBenefits
