The Emory University School of Medicine (ESOM) seeks a visionary and collaborative physician leader to serve as the Chair of the Department of Neurosurgery. The next Chair will have the opportunity to guide a nationally recognized department with a rich tradition of clinical excellence, research innovation, and educational distinction. Reporting directly to Dr. Sandra Wong, Dean of the Emory University School of Medicine and Chief Academic Officer of Emory Healthcare, the Chair will serve as a visible and committed leader for the department. This individual will provide the strategic vision needed to strengthen the research, education, and clinical missions while shaping a future-focused departmental culture. The Chair will continue to develop, scale, and innovate the department’s scholarly programs and research portfolio while optimizing care delivery and clinical operations in an increasingly complex environment. The successful candidate will build upon the department’s strong foundation, leveraging the talent and dedication of outstanding faculty, clinicians, researchers, residents, and fellows to drive continued excellence and innovation.
Leadership is seeking an accomplished board-certified neurosurgeon and physician leader with a national reputation for clinical expertise and an outstanding track record of academic accomplishment, with overall achievements commensurate with appointment to the faculty at the rank of Full Professor in the ESOM. The Chair will have substantial administrative and faculty management experience, along with the strategic vision, business acumen, and relationship-building skills to inspire faculty, staff, and key partners.
