Position : Occupational Therapist

Location : Lufkin State Supported Living Center Lufkin, TX (3401 N. University Avenue Lubbock, Texas 79415 United States)

Duration : 6-Month Contract

Pay Rate : $50$55 per hour

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the team at Lufkin State Supported Living Center. This role involves delivering advanced therapeutic services to individuals with developmental disabilities and complex medical needs. You will be responsible for evaluating and treating physical and cognitive impairments, creating individualized therapy and nutritional management plans, and implementing specialized therapeutic modalities and equipment.

The Occupational Therapist will work closely with interdisciplinary teams (IDTs), participate in treatment planning, provide staff training, complete documentation, and support quality assurance activities. Additional responsibilities may include supervising staff, coordinating student internships, and contributing to research projects. This position requires the ability to work independently with strong judgment and initiative.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct evaluations, clinical treatments, and specialized therapeutic services.
  • Design and implement individualized therapy and nutritional management programs.
  • Participate in IDT / ISP meetings and contribute to treatment planning.
  • Oversee and manage orthopedic and adaptive equipment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Provide staff training and support to promote best practices in care delivery.
  • Contribute to quality assurance activities and research as needed.

Qualifications

  • Current Occupational Therapist license (required).
  • 35 years of professional experience as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and therapeutic rehabilitation preferred.
  • Knowledge of assistive devices, treatment techniques, and documentation practices.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently with sound judgment and initiative.
