Extra Cash :

  • Earn shift differentials from $0.50 to $3.00 per hour depending on shift
  • Earn additional pay incentives up to $5 / hour for picking up additional, non-scheduled shifts
  • POSITION SUMMARY :

    This caretaker position provides personal cares, medication administration, assists with special activities, and cleaning to all residents that reside in the CBRF units at the Health Care Campus to ensure safety and overall assistance as guided by an Individual Service Plan. This position is available for Full-Time, Part-Time or On-Call.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

    The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Record pertinent information pertaining to the resident's care.
  • Assist residents with medication administration at the appropriate time.
  • Plan and prepare meals according to specific dietary requirements of the resident, and if necessary, feeding the resident.
  • Assist the resident with therapy exercises under the direction of a Licensed Therapist.
  • Assist or perform personal care including but not limited to hair care, oral hygiene, bathing, grooming, and dressing.
  • Assist with ambulation with or without mechanical aids.
  • Assist with routine bodily functions such as toileting.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and healthy environment through light housekeeping including changing bed linens, dusting and vacuuming, cleaning kitchen and bathroom, and laundry.
  • Provide companionship and stimulation for the resident including reading, walks, or other approved activities.
  • Accompany resident to approved community activities away from the CBRF.
  • Perform other housekeeping tasks as indicated in the care plan.
  • Take resident's vital signs and recording input and output.
  • Observe and report changes in resident's condition to appropriate Registered Nurse staff.
  • Participate in in-service education programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of PPE and its proper use for personal safety measures.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all resident care information and assure resident rights and privacy are protected at all times per HIPAA.
  • Ability to articulate verbally and in writing any observations and changes in a resident for the licensed nurse to evaluate.
  • Ability to create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, respect, and personal interest as well as a clean environment throughout the unit.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively and tactfully with residents, families, the public and other members of the organization.
  • Must be able to exhibit a warm, cheerful caring manner.
  • Ability to safely perform the essential job functions.
  • General knowledge of standard office procedures, practices, equipment and office assistance techniques.
  • Knowledge of County and department programs and policies.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain accurate and concise records and reports.
  • Ability to work the allocated hours of the position.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to communicate effectively with other members of the staff, supervisor, and the public.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both written and verbal form.
  • Must be proficient in workplace English and spelling.
  • Ability to read County policies and procedures; written instructions, general correspondence; SDS sheets, safety manuals, maps, etc.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to calculate mathematical calculations.
  • REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to remain calm in emergencies by thinking quickly, maintaining self-control, and adapting to stressful situations in support of residents.
  • Ability to develop, interpret and implement local policies and procedures; written instructions, general correspondence; Federal, State, and local regulations.
  • Ability to define problems, analyze facts, and exercise sound judgement in arriving to conclusions.
  • Ability to maintain discretion regarding business-related files, reports and conversations, within the provision of open records law and other applicable statutes and regulations.
  • Organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work accurately with attention to detail to prepare and maintain concise records and reports.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • This work requires moderate / heavy physical work lifting up to 75 pounds and lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds. Work regularly requires sitting, frequently requires standing, using hands to handle, feel, and perform fine motor skills and repetitive motions, and occasionally requires walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and reaching with hands and arms overhead or below the waist.
  • Work has standard vision requirements.
  • Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
  • Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
  • Work requires observing general surroundings and activities.
  • Work requires exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment and occasionally requires exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Work is primarily in a health care setting.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Age 16 or older.
  • Completed Personal Care Worker training preferred.
  • Previous experience in a caregiver role preferred.
  • Completion of CBRF training : standard precautions, fire safety, first aide, and medication management program within 90 days of hire.
  • Must successfully pass criminal and caregiver background check.
  • Expected Pay Range : $16.63 - $18.82 / hour
