Overview
The City Clerk Department is responsible for upholding public trust, protecting local democracy, and providing access to matters of public interest. They do so by managing elections and annexations, preparing council agendas and meeting notices, maintaining public records, and processing liquor and regulated business licenses. The City of Phoenix City Clerk Department is seeking to fill a Council Reporter vacancy on the Council Support Team. This Council Reporter position reports to a Management Assistant II and works with a team of professional staff responsible for the creation and publication of all City Council meeting agendas; management of Requests to Speak and eComments for all Formal City Council meetings; staffing all Formal City Council Meetings; ensuring City compliance with the Arizona Open Meeting Law by monitoring, reviewing and posting nearly 3,000 meeting notices annually; drafting meeting results and minutes for all Formal City Council meetings, and completing other Council meeting support duties, as assigned. This position requires regularly working evenings a few days per week and staffing meetings at off-site locations, as needed. A two day per week telework schedule may be available after training is completed in 180 days.
Responsibilities
- Create and publish City Council meeting agendas; manage Requests to Speak and eComments for Formal City Council meetings; staff Formal City Council Meetings.
- Monitor, review, and post meeting notices to ensure compliance with the Arizona Open Meeting Law (OML).
- Draft meeting results and minutes for all Formal City Council meetings; perform other Council meeting support duties as assigned.
- Occasional evenings and off-site meeting staffing; potential telework after training (180 days).

Pay Range : $32.62 - $48.19 per hour.
Hiring Range : $32.62 - $39.64 per hour.
Minimum Qualifications

Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite and standard computer uses and applications (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, WebEx, Teams, SAP, Granicus Legistar, etc.).Required experience within the last five years :Taking and drafting minutes or meeting notes.Writing administrative reports and / or memos.Proofreading and / or conducting quality control.Reading and interpreting rules and regulations.Experience supporting formal public and / or board / commission meetings.Experience with Arizona Open Meeting Law (OML).Experience entering data into a computer database to produce reports and track status.Current Notary status.Bilingual (Spanish).Recruitment Dates
