Job Summary :
Teaches lifeguard candidates in preparation for StarGuard Elite Certification. Lifeguard Instructors are the first people to represent our company to employees. Instructors have the responsibility and opportunity to set the example for new lifeguards. Lifeguard Instructors assist the District Manager(s) with all duties necessary to provide a safe and effective lifeguard course and aquatic facility. Certification and training for becoming an instructor will be provided. Previous lifeguard experience is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Attend initial training and in-service training for lifeguard instructor and lifeguarding.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor, including abiding to uniform requirements.
- Instruct group lifeguard courses in level appropriate skills.
- Evaluate lifeguard course participants.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly facility and class.
- Perform daily safety check in pool and deck areas.
- Maintain an attentive lookout for potential accidents in the swimming pool and surrounding facility and appropriately checks any problems.
- Assure records of daily course attendance and skills checklists are appropriately maintained and documented.
- Notify the District Manager(s) in the event of an emergency or other issues.
- Assure accident / injury, incident, and rescue reports are documented.
- Take proper care of StarGuard Elite and Midwest Pool Management testing materials and equipment.
- Ensure students complete test outs per training and guidelines through StarGuard Elite.
- Assist with planning, attend and participate in all mandatory staff meetings and trainings.
- Complete additional duties assigned by supervisors.
Lifeguard Instructor class will be held for Instructors to obtain their Lifeguard Instructor Certification before teaching Lifeguard Classes. Lifeguard classes will begin in January and continue through the summer season.
