Massapequa Gastroenterology, part of Optum, has an immediate opening for a friendly, patient focused and detailed oriented Patient Care Coordinator to join our team. The Patient Care Coordinator is responsible for the completion of set processes and protocols. Works cooperatively with all members of the care team to support the vision and mission of the organization, deliver excellent customer service and adhere to Lean processes. Supports the teams in meeting financial, clinical and service goals.

Schedule : A 37.5-hour work Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday between the hours of 5 : 00 am to 5 : 00pm. Tuesday between the hours of 12 : 00 pm to 8 : 00pm.  The schedule will be determined by the supervisor upon hire.

Primary Responsibilities :

• Schedule appointments for new or established patients
• Collect copays
• Obtain referrals
• Verify workers comp and no fault cases
• Answers incoming phone calls in a courteous and prompt manner; directs calls and takes messages
• Enters and scans patient's demographic and insurance information into Epic
• Verifies insurance eligibility and benefit information; informs patients of insurance benefits
• Greets patients, family members and guests with a friendly smile
• Assists patients with signing in and completing registration
• Enters and scans patient's demographic and insurance information into Epic
• Ability to be able to be cross trained as a medical assistant
• Assists with other tasks as assigned

The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.00 to $27.69 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
