We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Receiving Associate to join our transportation team specializing in barge and marine freight. This role is based at the freight counter, where you will interact directly with drivers, manage documentation, and coordinate with warehouse loaders. The environment shifts between fast-paced and quiet, requiring someone who is adaptable, communicative, and confident in handling a variety of tasks.
Key Responsibilities
Greet drivers and collect Bills of Lading (BOL)
Enter load sheet data into IBM Notes and update internal systems
Print and distribute freight stickers
Direct drivers to unloading areas and monitor truck lane flow
Communicate via radio with warehouse staff and loaders
Answer phone calls and respond to customer emails
Required Qualifications
Experience handling Bills of Lading (BOL)
Background in transportation or logistics
Strong data entry and administrative skills
Excellent coordination and communication abilities
Comfortable using radios and managing multiple communication channels
Proactive and adaptable to changing priorities
Work Environment
Office-based role at the freight counter
Frequent interaction with drivers, loaders, and warehouse staff
High-volume and fast-paced at times; calm and quiet at others
Requires initiative, resilience, and multitasking skills
Dress Code Business casual with safety-conscious footwear recommended.
