Chief Security Officer (CSO)

We are seeking a Chief Security Officer (CSO) to serve as a strategic driver of security excellence across ISI and our clients. The CSO role will help lead the establishment and execution of this strategy. The candidate will represent the company publicly and we will utilize social media to position them as a leading industry expert on DIB security and compliance issues.

Position Overview

The CSO will serve as a senior security leader within ISI. This role is both strategic and outward-facing. They must ensure ISI meets its security and compliance requirements, act as an expert for our clients, while also representing ISI as a visible and respected leader within the broader security industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enterprise Security Leadership
  • Develop and execute ISI's enterprise-wide security strategy covering personnel, physical, and information security.
  • Be the FSO of record, acting in a strategic role with a small team to process admin work associated with the role.
  • Oversee compliance with NISPOM, DCSA, and all relevant federal regulations.
  • Advise the executive team and Board on emerging threats, risks, and compliance requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement in security practices through benchmarking and adoption of best-in-class solutions.
  • Be the main POC for incidents ensuring situations are handled in accordance with NISPOM and other industry standards.
  • Industry & Government Engagement
  • Act as an industry thought leader, producing white papers and contributing to public discussions.
  • Represent ISI at industry working groups, conferences, and associations, including speaking regularly and sitting on boards.
  • Communicate ISI's vision, mission, and values to external audiences.
  • Serve as ISI's primary security spokesperson with DCSA and other government security stakeholders.
  • Build strong relationships with government and industry partners to position ISI as a thought leader in industrial security.
  • Network with and be able to provide introductions to Primes and other industry leaders.
  • Strategic Growth Enablement
  • Contribute to the development and execution of new products and services that meet the evolving needs of our government clients, transitioning from a focus on FSO issues to broader defense security and compliance issues.
  • Partner with business development and client-facing teams to support capture, proposal, and contract execution activities requiring security solutions.
  • Anticipate the security needs of a growing enterprise and ensure systems and structures scale with business expansion.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or specialized security certifications (e.g., ISP, CPP, CISSP) preferred. Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in industrial security, with senior leadership roles in large firms. Experience working at a large prime contractor, ideally multiple. Experience with possessing / safeguarding facilities. Experience with CMMC. Demonstrated experience engaging directly with DCSA and other federal security organizations. Strong presence within industry groups, associations, or security forums; proven ability to serve as a public-facing representative. Significant network of contacts. Experience balancing compliance rigor with the agility of a fast-growing business environment. Experience with key areas in industrial security, including FOCI, ITAR and Public Trust, Physical Security. Active Secret with higher eligibility preferred. Exceptional communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
