Director of Operations and Services Greater Peace Child Development Center
Reports To :
Executive Director, Greater Peace Community Development Corporation
Position Summary :
The Director of Operations and Services is responsible for the overall daily management and supervision of the Greater Peace Child Development Center. This role oversees the effective operation of the facility, the management and professional growth of teachers and staff, enrollment processes, curriculum implementation support, and family engagement. The Director ensures a safe, nurturing, and high-quality learning environment for children, while fostering positive relationships with families, staff, and the community.
Key Responsibilities :
Facility & Operations Management
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Child Development Center, ensuring compliance with state licensing, health, and safety standards.
- Ensure classrooms, playgrounds, and facilities are well-maintained, safe, and conducive to learning.
- Monitor supplies, equipment, and resources to support effective program delivery.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and systems that promote excellence and efficiency.
- Other duties as assigned
Staff Leadership & Supervision
Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate teachers, assistants, and support staff.Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities for staff.Develop and lead regular staff meetings, trainings, and workshops to ensure alignment with best practices and program goals.Foster a positive, collaborative, and mission-driven work culture.Enrollment & Family Engagement
Manage all aspects of the enrollment process, including recruitment, tours, applications, intake, and student placement.Maintain accurate student records in accordance with state and organizational requirements.Build strong relationships with families, providing regular communication, orientation, and support services.Coordinate family engagement activities, parent conferences, and community partnerships.Program Oversight & Services
Ensure the implementation and development of high-quality curricula and developmentally appropriate practices across all classrooms.Support teachers in lesson planning, child assessments, and individualized learning strategies.Coordinate wraparound services, including nutrition, after-school programming, and resource referrals.Monitor program outcomes and make data-driven improvements.Supervise staff and ensure all training and certifications are completed annually.Compliance & Reporting
Ensure adherence to state licensing regulations, organizational policies, and accreditation standards.Partner with the Director of Compliance and Finances to maintain accurate reporting and recordkeeping.Prepare reports and updates for the Executive Director and Board as requested.Ensure staff have the required DHR annual trainingOversee Food Bank DocumentationQualifications :
Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education Administration, or related field (Masters preferred), OR 3 years experience as a Child Development Center / Daycare Director at a DHR licensed facility and required DHR training and certifications.Minimum of 5 years experience in early childhood education, including at least 3 years in an administrative or leadership role.Knowledge of state childcare licensing regulations, early learning standards, and best practices in child development.Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.Ability to manage staff, facilities, and multiple program components effectively.Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.Commitment to the mission and values of Greater Peace Community Development Corporation.Working Conditions :
Full-time, exempt position.Office and classroom-based with regular interaction with children, staff, and families.Occasional evenings and weekends required for parent meetings, training, or special events.Successful CAN and ABI / FBI Background Check Required2 Weeks Vacation (Week of Christmas and Week of Spring Break), 2 unpaid days off, 7 sick days, 10 federal holidays
