Registered Nurse – Trauma ICU

Facility : University of Tennessee Medical Center

Location : 1924 Alcoa Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37920

Start Date : October 20, 2025

Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : Night Shift (6 : 45 PM – 7 : 15 AM)

Schedule : 3x12-hour shifts / week

Position Overview

University of Tennessee Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Trauma / Surgical Critical Care unit. Candidates should have 2 years of recent comparable experience in trauma or surgical ICU nursing. The nurse-to-patient ratio is approximately 1 : 2 but may adjust based on acuity and patient need. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend. First-time travelers will be considered.

Certifications & Requirements

  • RN License : Active Tennessee RN license or qualifying compact license required
  • Experience : Minimum 2 years recent Trauma ICU or comparable critical care experience
  • Certifications :

    • BLS required

  • ACLS required
  • Charting System : Not specified

    • Skills & Competencies

  • Proficient in trauma and surgical critical care nursing
  • Strong clinical judgment with ability to manage 2 patient assignments based on acuity
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of an interdisciplinary critical care team
  • Adaptability to schedule and acuity changes
