Overall, Purpose and Objective of Position
This position is responsible for supervising electrical and automation projects across the site and overseeing maintenance work utilizing a team of internal and external resources. This role will primarily work with electricians, area managers, planner, and maintenance coordinator to plan and schedule all electrical maintenance needs and support.
Primary Responsibilities / Essential Functions
- Oversee electrical crew lead's plan and schedule of maintenance activities by priority level to minimize downtime and interruptions.
- Work with Electrical Crew lead to create and maintain inventory for tools and spare parts.
- Work with Warehouse Supervisor on adequate inventory stock levels by ordering and receiving parts and tools.
- Oversee internal and external resources linked to various projects, including but not limited to capital projects, etc.
- Work with all departments on any project that has electrical work related to it to keep LDC electrical standard practices in place.
- Back up the plan and schedule all preventative & corrective maintenance for machinery, auxiliary equipment & building maintenance, with the maintenance crew lead.
- Coordinate with departments to schedule all project works and contractor work.
- Facilitate meetings to keep track of established timelines and due dates for projects.
- Collect and maintain drawings, manuals, and other documentation of equipment and machinery.
- Use technical knowledge to provide strategic support to maintenance departments.
- Keep record and file essential maintenance documentation.
- Coordinate with vendors for deliveries and ensure accurate invoicing.
- Keep track of KPI's to ensure goals are being achieved.
- Help maintenance team with plant shutdown as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities / Essential Functions
Direct & support crew lead as required.Drive team culture that focuses on continuous improvement, positive morale and highest level of customer service and professionalism.Demonstrate leadership behaviors by focusing on how tasks are accomplished, in addition to results.Participate in the Maintenance Management On-call rotation.Work with Maintenance Manager and Human Resources to set performance goals and measurable objectives for team members.Provide formal and informal support and coaching to direct reports as needed to improve performance or for growth opportunities.Additional Responsibilities
Ensure implementation and compliance of all corporate initiatives, mandated policies, procedures and processes and government regulations.Ensure process and financial objectives are met.Accountable for key maintenance measurement and results.Accountable for all maintenance related assets, costs, and control.Responsible for coaching Electrical staff within Maintenance department.Ensure that the department's customer requirements are always met.Maintain awareness of, and compliance with, all applicable LDC policies.Any other duties as assigned by supervision.Safety Responsibilities

Be an active member of the facility's Quality & Food Safety Program. Maintains good working knowledge of the Food Safety Program policies and procedures. Ensure all applicable requirements are adhered to within the area of responsibility. Ensures employees are provided training on the food safety program procedures, policies, and job tasks associated with food safety. Ensures that work conditions not adhering to the program requirements are remedied as soon as possible.
SHE Program
Active member of the facility SHE Program. Maintains good working knowledge of SHE policies, rules, and procedures applicable to area of responsibility and ensures all applicable requirements are adhered to. Ensures employees are provided required training for area assigned, and jobs and tasks prior to assigning work. Ensures area of responsibility is maintained in orderly and safe manner. Ensures unsafe working conditions are remedied as soon as practicable.

Provide direction of workflow to staff to ensure peak work efficiencies and product quality are met. The individual will understand Company standards and government regulations with respect to areas of responsibility to ensure ongoing compliance. Investigate and resolve production issues related to maintenance activities. Participate in plant start-ups and shut-downs as required and in the maintenance department on-call rotation.
Experience
Education / Professional Certifications / Licenses
Relevant technical schooling or equivalent experience, Journeyman Electrician Preferred.Technical and practical knowledge of machinery / equipment.Able to read and understand drawings / schematics.Strong communication and problem-solving skills.Highly developed organizational skills.Must be detail oriented.High proficiency with computers; Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).Able to work in an extremely fast paced environment.Able to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.Knowledge and / or experience in ISO quality standards system and LEAN manufacturing an asset.Knowledge of processing (Canola) industry is an asset.Experience
Minimum of five to seven years of Electrical and / or Automation work experience within a Maintenance department, previous experience with Capital Projects, and previous experience directly supervising internal and external resources is required. Computer literacy and CMMS experience is preferred.

Continuous 24 / 7 plant operations with this position are Mon – Fri 8 hrs per day depending on plant operations, as well as off-shift call-ins. The candidate should expect that there may be circumstances when they are required to work outside of normal hours. Regular exposure to temperatures and weather, gases, vapors, dust, odors, flammable liquids; occasional exposure to wet floors and high-volume noise.
