Join Ukrop's Homestyle Foods as a  1st Shift Inventory Specialist and begin your career in a fast-paced, high-quality food production environment. This full-time onsite role in Richmond, Virginia will work primarily in our freezer environment.  In this role the team member will help to manage and maintain accurate inventory levels that support our production and distribution goals. Additionally, you'll play a key part in ensuring our teammates and customers receive the highest quality products on time, every time.

What it's like to be a Production Team Member at Ukrop's

As an Inventory Specialist at Ukrop's Homestyle Foods, you'll work in the bakery to support product flow and accuracy. You'll interact daily with delivery drivers, logistics teams, and production associates to ensure raw materials and packaging are available where and when they're needed. The role involves physical activity, problem-solving, and attention to detail-all while upholding food safety and sanitation standards in a refrigerated production environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate forklift and pallet jack or other equipment to load, unload, transport, and store goods.
  • Ensure raw materials (including packaging materials) are staged and available to the production area and meet food safety and quality standards.
  • Apply internal lot codes to all incoming food and packaging cases.
  • Assist in ensuring that the SQF system is in place and that we follow all aspects of HACCP plan, SSOPs, and GMPs throughout the plant.
  • Examine shipment contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, verify accuracy.
  • Manage and ensure the accuracy of documents.
  • Perform physical activities that require a considerable amount of lifting, bending, and handling materials.
  • Report all food safety issues to an immediate supervisor.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • High School education or equivalent.
  • Forklift / pallet jack experience preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of safe storing and handling procedures of various foods and chemicals.
  • The ability to arrange things in a certain pattern.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with supervisor and coworkers; and follow safety and chemical guidelines.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules as needed for production and / or holidays.
  • Required Skills and Competencies

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to communicate with supervisors and coworkers.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work in a time-driven atmosphere and follow strict timelines.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules.
  • Working Conditions

  • Work performed primarily in a production plant environment.
  • Exposure to cold / refrigerated areas.
  • Use of commercial bakery equipment and machinery.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), and pushing / pulling.
  • Manual dexterity and visual / hearing acuity required.
