Below is our job description and minimum requirements to apply.\n\nProvides direct patient care in Postpartum, Nursery, or Labor and Delivery setting.\n\nProvides assessment and planning for individualized patient care.\n\nCommunicates with physicians about changes in patient's clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies.\n\nResponds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.\n\nAbility to perform a head-to-toe assessment on infants, adolescents, and adults and reassessments per policy\n\nAbility to assess neonate at delivery and perform neonatal resuscitation according to AHA guidelines.\n\nAbility to adequately assess and reassess pain.\n\nUtilizes appropriate pain management techniques.\n\nEducates the patient and family regarding pain management.\n\nKnowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition.\n\nFollows the five medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.\n\nAbility to formulate an individualized plan of care, revise plan as indicted by the patient's response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness.\n\nTreats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, spiritual needs of patient and family.\n\nDemonstrates an ability to assist physicians with procedures in Postpartum, L&D, and / or Newborn Nursery.\n\nCommunicates appropriately and clearly to charge nurse, coworkers and physicians.\n\nDemonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.\n\nQualifications\n\nQualifications : \n\nMinimum Education : \n

  • Associate's degree in Nursing required\n
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred\n\nRequired Licenses : \n\nMust have a current Mississippi Registered Nurse license or a current Compact State Registered Nurse license\n\nRequired Skills : \n
  • Current updated American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification are required within 90 days of hire or transfer.\n
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) is required in L&D and Nursery.\n
  • Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWOHNN) certification is preferred for L & D.\n
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is preferred for post-partum RNs.
