The University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to serve as Associate Vice President, Development. The AVPD will work in close collaboration with the Vice President for Advancement to strengthen the university's advancement operations, aligning them with current and emerging philanthropic trends and fostering a more sustainable and mature culture of fundraising. Serving as a key liaison with deans and senior university leadership, the AVPD will ensure the Advancement team functions as an effective, accountable, and integrated partner across campus.
Key responsibilities include building and nurturing a high-functioning team, serving as a member of the senior leadership team for advancement, independently engaging senior leadership with development staff in the annual strategic planning process, holding primary responsibility for meeting or exceeding fundraising goals, leading efforts to raise significant gifts for major university initiatives, managing and cultivating a portfolio of major and principal gift prospects, collaborating with volunteers, university leaders, faculty, and staff in strategies to identify, cultivate and solicit major donors, developing systems and processes that improve efficiency and effectiveness of fundraising, and working closely with the VPA to devise and implement a campaign planning process that will support the continued growth of the University.
Minimum required qualifications include a bachelor's degree and seven years of managerial and / or related professional work experience, or a master's degree and five years of managerial and / or related professional work experience, or a doctorate and three years of managerial and / or related professional work experience. Related experience includes progressively responsible experience in the development field, strong knowledge of fundraising strategy, principles, practices, and trends, including major gifts, annual giving, planned giving, corporate, and occasional travel.
