CNC Operator

Location : Fort Wayne, IN

Pay : $15–$20 / hour (based on experience)

Schedule : 1st Shift

Requirements : Math test required; must be comfortable using micrometers, calipers, and performing precision measurements.

About the role

Peoplelink staffing is looking for a CNC operator to work at a short- to medium-run CNC machining facility—commonly referred to as a job shop —serving diverse industries with precision parts and custom machining solutions. Located in Fort Wayne, IN, our shop thrives on craftsmanship, quality, and efficiency.

Job Objective

Support production by operating CNC machines to complete specific work orders that contribute to meeting or exceeding weekly revenue goals. This includes following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for safe, consistent, and efficient machining.

Key Responsibilities 1. Pre-Operational Checks

Wear required PPE : safety glasses, gloves, closed-toe shoes.

Ensure the workspace is clean and organized.

Power on and warm up the CNC machine.

Check coolant and lubrication systems.

Load and verify CNC programs, tooling, and materials.

2. Operations

Secure workpieces and mount tools properly.

Run CNC programs and monitor machine performance.

Listen for unusual sounds or vibrations.

Inspect part dimensions regularly and adjust settings as needed.

3. Post-Operation

Safely remove finished parts.

Power down the machine and clean the area.

Document any issues or maintenance performed.

4. Maintenance

Clean and lubricate machines per manufacturer guidelines.

Replace worn tooling and inspect mechanical components.

Calibrate equipment and perform routine checks.

Qualifications

Basic math and measurement skills (math test required).

Experience with micrometers, calipers, and other precision tools.

Ability to read blueprints and follow SOPs.

Prior CNC experience preferred, manufacture experience required.
