JOB SUMMARY :
The Industrial Engineer / EHS Lead is responsible for driving operational excellence across the facility by leading both Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives and the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) program. This is a hands-on role that utilizes Industrial Engineering principles and Lean Six Sigma methodologies to evaluate, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes, enhancing operational capability, efficiency, and sustainability. Concurrently, they will lead and champion a proactive EHS culture, ensuring compliance, mitigating risks, and promoting a safe and healthy work environment for all associates. This position plays a key role in integrating best practices for efficiency and safety, mentoring associates, and achieving measurable improvements in production, quality, cost, and EHS performance. Expected balance between CI and EHS duties (75%CI and 25%EHS).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence :
- Evaluate manufacturing processes using data analysis and engineering principles to identify opportunities for improvement in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Lead and facilitate cross-functional process improvement events using Lean Six Sigma tools (e.g., Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Kaizen, 5S, Standard Work, TPM).
- Develop, document, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for optimized processes, ensuring proper training and adherence.
- Research, propose, and manage the implementation of improved processes, equipment modifications, or new manufacturing technologies.
- Implement and sustain 5S methodology throughout the facility.
- Manage and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to productivity, efficiency, and project status.
Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) :
Champion and foster a proactive EnPro Environmental Health and Safety program / culture through visible leadership, training, communication, and associate engagement.Represent the site on corporate safety meetings / events.Manage the safety opportunity reporting system.Track monthly safety reporting data.Develop, implement, and monitor Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) to ensure they are available for all key tasks and equipment, existing & new.Lead incident investigations, determine root causes, implement corrective / preventive actions (CAPAs), and ensure timely reportingConduct periodic EHS assessments.BASIC QUALIFICATION
Bachelors degree or 8 years of work experience requiredManufacturing / Industrial Engineering : 5 years (Preferred)Minimum 3-5 years in a similar continuous improvement roleTechnical skills in MS Office applicationExperience facilitating cross-functional process improvement events using Lean Six Sigma principles, concepts, methodology & tools such as : 5S, VSM, and Kaizen.Certifications / LicensesLean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification is highly desirable.Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and in team environmentsAbility to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.Skills and Qualifications :
Working knowledge of manufacturing process associated with the machining of metal. Lathes and Mills preferred.Experience supporting component assembly processesStrong analytic skill, problem solving tools / methods, Lean tools, standardized Work, 5S, TPM, etc. Methodically work to establish root cause of process variationExcellent communication skills - professional and effective interaction across all levels of personnel with the organization.Excellent organizational and project management skills.Strong computer skills Microsoft Office Suite, ERP systems, etc.Self-motivated with drive to accomplish various tasks under minimal supervision in a timely manner.Flexibility to work off shift to accommodate Production support needs.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
